Mentoring Philosophy

I aim to cultivate in each student the motivation, judgment, and confidence to become an independent researcher. Rather than providing ready-made answers for short-term outcomes, I use targeted questions and carefully calibrated guidance to strengthen their ability to reason through unfamiliar problems. I provide structure early in the research process, then step back as students gain momentum—engaging them as increasingly independent collaborators while sharing the practical judgment and research experience that support their continued growth.
